Linda Spielman

I came to metalsmithing after a long career in business. What I didn't expect was what it would become — a studio, a community, and a real force in my life. A few classes turned into a lasting pursuit. I'm still pulled in by the process — sawing, forming, soldering, setting, and finishing.

I work primarily in sterling silver, sometimes adding stones, touches of 14k gold-fill, and occasionally copper or brass. I'm drawn to round forms, quiet asymmetry, soft finishes, and texture — and sparkle.

My process starts at the table, not on paper. I arrange and rearrange — I keep a box of silver components from own work just for this. Much of what I make is one of a kind — sometimes on purpose, sometimes because I don't keep notes. Other pieces I return to, making them again or pushing them further.

Nothing fussy. Just intentional design, subtle detail, and jewelry made slowly in my Chicago studio. I make pieces I love. I hope you will too.
